The English Literature Study Program at Universitas Komputer Indonesia (UNIKOM) has successfully held the Batch 2 Research Proposal Seminar (SUP) and Thesis Session on February 24 and 26, 2025. This activity took place as scheduled and is part of the English Literature Study Program’s commitment to fostering students in the academic research process and preparing graduates who are competent in their fields.
The Research Proposal Seminar was held on February 24 and 26, 2025, where 28 students from the 2019-2021 batch presented their research plans to the reviewing lecturers. This presentation is an important stage in ensuring that each research has a strong theoretical foundation, appropriate methodology, and clear academic contribution.
In this seminar, students receive constructive feedback from the reviewers which aims to improve their research design before entering the research and thesis writing stage. Thus, this activity is not only an evaluation event, but also a learning process for students to think critically and academically.
Meanwhile, at the Thesis Session, 3 students from the 2018-2020 batch have participated in the Thesis Session and defended their research results before the examining team. This session is a crucial moment that determines student graduation after going through a long series of academic processes. The participants were tested in terms of research substance, methodology, and the relevance of their studies to the fields of literature, culture, and linguistics. Students are required to defend their academic arguments systematically and convincingly, while at the same time showing that their research contributes to the development of language and literary sciences.
Student enthusiasm and participation unlike the previous organization which was closed, in Batch 2 the thesis trial was made in an open format so that it could be witnessed by other students. This innovation aims to provide broader insights for students who will undergo trials in the future. Students who attended showed high enthusiasm and followed the trial in an orderly manner. They can observe firsthand how the thesis examination process takes place, understand the examiner’s expectations, and prepare themselves better for their trial in the future.
UNIKOM English Literature Study Program’s commitment to strengthening the academic atmosphere is reflected in one of them through the implementation of this activity. The Research Proposal Seminar and Thesis Session are not only academic requirements, but also a means for students to develop analytical thinking skills, scientific argumentation, and sharpness in understanding linguistic and literary issues. It is hoped that through this activity, students can be better prepared to compile, defend, and develop their research to a higher level. The UNIKOM English Literature Study Program is committed to continuing to foster and support students in producing quality research that is relevant to the times.
