Bandung, UNIKOM — The English Literature Program at the University of Computer Science Indonesia (UNIKOM) once again demonstrated its commitment to fostering a high-quality, globally-oriented academic environment through the organization of an international guest lecture featuring Prof. Bettina Meiser, AUSAID Expert from the University of New South Wales (UNSW), Australia on Tuesday, June 10, 2025.
This event is part of the program’s internationalization strategy, aligning with the recommendations and international evaluation standards set by the FIBAA accreditation body. The English Literature Program at UNIKOM consistently establishes cross-border academic partnerships to facilitate knowledge exchange and expand students’ exposure to global perspectives.
During the in-person guest lecture session, drawing on her strong background in health communication, social psychology, and applied research methods, Prof. Meiser provided English Literature students with in-depth insights into how qualitative and quantitative approaches are strategically used to evaluate individual behavior, experiences, and decisions within complex medical and cultural contexts.
This session was not only an academic forum but also a cross-disciplinary learning space that opened new horizons for students in understanding applied social research methods. The discussion was interactive, with students demonstrating enthusiasm through exploratory questions that reflected the interconnectedness of language, culture, and social dynamics in a global society.
The Head of the English Literature Program at UNIKOM, Dr. Tatan Tawami, S.S., M.Hum., emphasized that this activity is a concrete form of academic internationalization. “Such guest lectures are not merely a fulfillment of internationalization indicators in FIBAA evaluations, but more importantly, they serve as a catalyst to expand the intellectual horizons of students and faculty. This is part of our efforts to build a dynamic, open, and globally relevant academic atmosphere,” he explained.
This activity complements the strategic agenda of the English Literature Program at UNIKOM, such as student participation in ICOBEST 2025, capacity-building sessions for faculty members, and collaborations with partner universities like IPB Cirebon. All of this demonstrates the program’s consistency in upholding the values of internationalization and academic innovation.
By inviting international academics into the classroom, the English Literature Program at UNIKOM reaffirms its position as a program that is not only responsive to the changes of the times but also actively builds global connectivity that brings tangible benefits to the teaching and learning process.
