The English Literature Study Program at the Indonesian Computer University successfully held a drama class for the class of 2023 through a musical drama performance titled The Greatest Showman adaptation on Monday (9/02) at the Rumentang Siang Building. The event was held as part of the final exam for the drama course taught by Dr. Nungki Heriyanti, S.S., M.A., and led by Keysa Rahma Humaira.
The drama performance was enjoyed by lecturers, families, and the general public, featuring a lively show that combined acting, dance, and music. Despite limitations in props and stage technology, the cast was able to create a lively atmosphere through their expressions, choreography, and teamwork.
In an interview, Xelga, one of the actors, stated that the theme was chosen by the actors after careful consideration.
“Why did we choose that theme? We initially discussed it and eventually decided to present it. We initially wanted to try something new, but thank God it went well,” she said.
He also added that the preparation process was not short. The entire team, from the performers to the crew, worked together in intensive rehearsals, stage design, props, and character development.
“We rehearsed for about a month and a half, which was really short considering the venue and concept. The preparations were obviously extensive, starting with the venue, costumes, and the venue itself, which was the most stressful part. Then there were the movements and improvisations, and the props,” he added.
This performance was not only a form of academic assessment, but also a space for creative exploration and proof that students are capable of presenting entertaining and memorable performances.
